EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Multicultural Leadership Program graduation for the Class of 2025 will be held—today at 6:30 p.m.—in the Brown Ballroom at Illinois State University's Bone Student Center.  The Pantagraph

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • State senators voted 55-0 on April 11th to ban carbon capture near the Mahomet Aquifer—protecting the sole water source for nearly one million people. The bill now awaits a vote in the Illinois House—where lawmakers will review safety measures before new projects begin.  WGLT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Chapin Rose introduced Senate Bill 211— a measure that would require officials to reveal the names of close family members working together in local government to help voters see potential conflicts of interest. The bill is now under review in an ethics subcommittee as a step toward more transparent local governance.  Cities 92.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nonprofit Lifelong Access held its first Autism Awareness Expo on April 10th at its Normal location. Volunteers—along with community organizations and visitors—brought new resources and a hopeful message for better autism support in the area.  WGLT

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Urban Equity Properties is working on a $68m plan to change the old State Farm building in downtown Bloomington into 183 new apartments, shops, and a restaurant on the 13th floor. The plan will be shown to city council on Monday—if approved, it may add more homes and boost local business.  WGLT
