- ➤ Heartland Community College recognized 37 student apprentices during a signing ceremony on Dec. 3. The event celebrated career training in manufacturing and healthcare with support from employer partners including Bridgestone, Caterpillar Pontiac, 8th-Street Welding and Hydraulics, OSF Healthcare, Rivian and Westminster Village. - ➤ Town spokesperson Cathy Oloffson said a cybercrime group breached the system for emergency and event notices, urging subscribers to change reused passwords as the platform stays down until January — the town will use FEMA’s IPAWS for emergencies and plans a vendor switch when details arrive.
