- ➤ Troy Ziegler — ISU Santa and director of Toys for Tots McLean County — has spent 25 years collecting toys to help about 130,000 kids and placed over 110 donation boxes in Bloomington-Normal, including 12 on campus. The boxes remain available until December 15 so local residents can drop off toys to bring hope and joy to children this Christmas season. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Uptown Normal's annual Treat Feast returns on Oct. 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Local businesses welcome trick-or-treaters while several streets including East Beaufort, Uptown Circle, North Street, and Constitution Blvd will be closed from 4 p.m. until about 7 p.m. for safety. City of Normal
- ➤ Towers of Light Christian Resources will open its new retail store in Normal on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. at 1604 Visa Drive, Suite B — the store will serve as a hub for MegaVoice audio Bibles and a Multi-Media Language Arts Curriculum that uses a Read-While-Listening system and offers free grand opening goodies — and will host holiday author events. - ➤ On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Tynessia Edmonds, manager at College Avenue McDonald's, received the Ray Kroc Award for outstanding leadership, team support, and community impact—she will be honored at the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention next year. She credited her team for helping her earn this global recognition. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ Heartland Community College dedicated a memorial garden honoring Ann Pontius—one of its first employees—on October 23 as President Keith Cornille, staff, and family planted spring bulbs near the chemistry labs she helped establish. The garden is located at the walkway entrance to the Instructional Commons North building and honors her 29 years of service to the college. WGLT
