- ➤ The McLean County Chamber of Commerce hosted a showcase Thursday morning at Park Regency Hotel and Conference where 55 non-profits presented volunteer and funding opportunities — president Charlie Moore said the event helps the community connect with local groups in arts, education, healthcare and human services. - ➤ District 87 Superintendent David Mouser said the new County Facilities Sales Tax on retail and online purchases, prepared food, and fuel gives school districts extra funding. The Pantagraph
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents of Mt. Hope and Funks Grove face an open burning ban that went into effect on October 16th and will end on October 23rd due to dry conditions — the fire chief warned that any burning triggering a fire department call for suppression will result in a fine. Central Illinois Proud
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Normal officials announced road work will begin at 6 a.m. today on Greenbriar Drive between Parkway Plaza Drive and Fort Jesse Road for street resurfacing. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Mt. Hope and Funks Grove Fire Chief Eric Fulk ordered a ban on open burning in both townships starting Oct. 16 and lasting through the evening of Oct. 23—he said the dry weather creates a high risk for fire. Residents in Bloomington, Normal, and Comlara Park may still have recreational fires while other areas in the county face stricter restrictions. WGLT
