COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 43rd annual Children's Christmas Party in Normal is scheduled for Dec 13 from 8 to 11 a.m.—organizers plan a festive celebration for local children.  The Pantagraph
  • The Town of Normal announced road closures for the Sugar Creek Arts Festival this weekend—Constitution Boulevard will have no parking from 4 p.m. on October 9 and close at 5 p.m., while East Beaufort Street, Uptown Circle, North Street, and Broadway will become no-parking at 11 a.m. on October 10 and close at noon; roads reopen around 6 p.m. on October 12. The festival, presented by the McLean County Arts Center and the town, will feature over 100 artists.  Central Illinois Proud

BUSINESS NEWS

  • During the third quarter, Rivian built over 10,000 electric vehicles in Normal and increased its deliveries — tightening its full-year production target. The company plans to adjust its production strategy based on the new output numbers.  The Pantagraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Normal’s Director of Zoning and Planning Mercy Davison said town staff advanced the Vision 2050 Sustainability Plan after a Monday town council meeting—staff formed a committee that is implementing projects such as increased tree planting, water bottle filling stations, energy-efficient upgrades, and partnerships for bike education. The plan reflects an 84% community approval from a scientific survey and strong local support for sustainable practices.  WGLT
