- ➤ Illinois State Police said a fox was spotted on ISU campus and advised students to admire it from afar — they stressed that not feeding or approaching the animal will keep it and everyone safe. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ The Haunted Trail, celebrating 30 years in Normal, will return to Constitution Trail during the third and fourth weeks of October—continuing a long-held local tradition. The Pantagraph
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bloomington City Council voted to implement a 1% grocery tax to avert a structural deficit and fund capital projects, despite opposition from some council members at Monday’s meeting — the council also approved increasing available video gaming licenses from 60 to 75. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ The Town of Normal announced that Halloween trick-or-treat hours will run from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 31 — local officials also urged parents to inspect treats and provided schedules for events like haunted trails, spooky movies and art workshops throughout October. City of Normal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ FCS No. 4 Illinois State beat North Alabama 38-36 in double overtime after a furious comeback and two one-hour rain delays extended the game to six hours—finishing non-conference play at 3-1 overall. The Redbirds have a bye next Saturday before they face North Dakota State in Missouri Valley Football Conference play. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Saturday soccer saw state-ranked Washignton defeat U-High Pioneers 4 to 3 and Normal Community win 3 to 0 over Quincy Notre Dame while Dunlap and Bloomington also took wins with scores of 3 to 0 and 1 to 0. Normal West’s Renee Warren won the girls race and Normal Community’s AJ Ince won gold in the boys division as Washington swim won the Irish Relays. Central Illinois Proud
