CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Normal police searched Tuesday for a suspect who fled after officers responded to a report of an armed person near West Rabb Road and North Main Street at 2:30 p.m.—the suspect was described as wearing black and white and a weapon was recovered that they believed belonged to him. - ➤ Normal police are searching for 15-year-old Kamilah M. who was last seen on Monday at 1:30 p.m. near Park Trail Road wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, black flip-flops and a red and white denim hoodie — anyone with information should call 309-888-5030. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Normal police searched on Tuesday for a suspected armed subject in the 600 block of West Raab Road—reporting that the person was last seen wearing black clothing and white shoes, that officers recovered a weapon during a foot pursuit and cleared the area at 4:15 p.m., though the suspect remains at large. - ➤ Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts was named a finalist for the Levitt Foundation Music Series Grant, officials announced Tuesday. Residents may vote to support free outdoor concerts from September 5 through 15 by texting 'BLOOM' to (877) 409-5525. Cities 92.9
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Heartland Community College student trustee Aemun Lopeyok, a computer science major from Kenya, represents local students this school year and plans to strengthen ties between the board and the student body—he previously led the Student Government Association and the Heartland Activities Committee. - ➤ District 87 is considering a new graduation plan for 15 to 20 Bloomington High newcomer students that would let them earn a 16-credit diploma instead of 23.5 credits. The proposal will be reviewed in the September meeting and voted on in October—aiming to help these students balance school with work and family obligations. WGLT

- ➤ Bloomington water showed higher taste and odor compounds because dry conditions dropped Lake Bloomington's water level more than a foot.
