- ➤ The Humane Society of Central Illinois is reducing pet adoption fees and accepting donations to clear the shelter for incoming animals — the effort began at the start of the month — and will end tomorrow with the dedication of the Holly Park Dedication Garden where community members can purchase a stone to honor a beloved pet. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Children's Discovery Museum announced on Aug. 28 that Katie Keller will become its new director of education effective Sept. 2. Keller, a native of McLean County with over 15 years of experience with the National Park Service, will develop curriculum, recruit educators, train staff, and work with community partners—supporting programs for public schools, homeschoolers, and special needs students. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Town of Normal has opened applications for its free All About Normal civic education program—open to residents aged 15 and up—with group sessions every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. running from Oct. 8 through Dec. 10; applicants must submit their forms by Sept. 26 and will be notified by Oct. 1.
