- ➤ Taylor Matthews—a blacksmith and owner of Edge of Normal Workshop in Bloomington—will have his work featured on the History Channel’s Forged In Fire as a watch party is held at Joe’s Station House in Normal at 9 p.m. today. He has been blacksmithing for 10 years and plans to use the national exposure to boost his business and share his craft locally. WJBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Town of Normal launched its All About Normal program and is now taking applications for twenty people aged 15 and older to learn how the town works—classes will include talks and site visits at City Hall, police and fire departments, the library, and other facilities. The program meets Wednesday evenings from Oct. 8 through Dec. 10 and accepted participants will be notified by Oct. 1. City of Normal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Authorities released an updated Community Health Needs Assessment on August 26 that showed worsening access to care as 725 residents reported long wait times, high costs, and lack of insurance. Local health partners are preparing a new three-year improvement plan to boost services—expanding mobile clinics and dental care to better serve the community. WGLT

- ➤ Disc golf in Central Illinois has grown significantly through the Ledgestone Open—which started in 2011—and its boost during COVID encouraged safe outdoor play and increased local participation.
