ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 57-year-old Boston man named Lloyd Young died after his bicycle was struck by a car near 500 East and 1950 North Road between Carlock and Danvers northwest of Normal on Saturday—authorities are investigating the crash and toxicology tests are pending. WGLT

- ➤ A Normal man, Emerson Evans, 31, was detained by McLean County Circuit Court after allegedly giving mifepristone to his pregnant girlfriend without her consent—prosecutors said he faces two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child that could lead to a 60-year sentence and his arraignment is set for early September. - ➤ Illinois State University and the Town of Normal announced seven temporary roadway installations as part of Phase 2 of a safety project, and School Street at Mulberry and College will be closed to vehicles until early December to test improvements for pedestrians—limiting turns for drivers at this busy intersection. - ➤ Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias ordered Flock Safety to stop sharing license plate data with U.S. Customs and Border Protection after a June audit found the company had violated state law by allowing access to cameras on Illinois roads—he urged local police to review their contracts with Flock to comply with the Trust Act. - ➤ At Monday's city council meeting, the group Not In Our Town urged council members to sign its pledge against intolerance and bigotry—Mayor Dan Brady and others supported the call while warning about extremist flyers planning a hate march. The council also approved changes to the Enterprise Zone boundaries, postponed zoning proposals for missing middle housing, and passed a budget amendment for a public works plan on former nursery land. - ➤ Drivers in Normal experienced a parking ban on the south side of Hoover Drive for pavement repair that began Monday, Aug.25 and is expected to end by 2 PM on Aug.27, and on Monday a lane reduction was put in place on Parkway Plaza Drive between Veterans Parkway and Greenbriar Drive with repairs expected to finish by 2 PM on Aug.29—motorists are urged to use caution. In Glasford, resurfacing work on Glasford Road from US Route 24 to Main Street began Monday and will continue for two weeks, so drivers should avoid the area. 25 News Now
