JB Pritzker signed the safe gun storage bill into law to require Illinois gun owners to keep their firearms in locked containers (safes with a lock code or cable locks count) if a minor or at-risk person might access them. - ➤ Bloomington City Council voted last Monday to suspend its annual sales tax payments to the county mental health and public safety fund for 12 months—this suspension lets the city decide how to use the funds—and the Town of Normal joined in calling for an independent audit to review the fund's over $20 million balance. - ➤ Gov. JB Pritzker named ADM executive Kris Lutt to the Illinois State University Board of Trustees, replacing Scott Jenkins who resigned for personal reasons.
