GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Leaders from Bloomington and Normal are asking the McLean County Board to temporarily stop collecting the 1% sales tax meant for mental health and public safety programs and to audit spending from a fund that holds about $20 million—money used for projects like a jail expansion and a homeless village. The cities would keep roughly $3 million and $2 million each year, and the proposal will be discussed at an executive committee meeting at 4 p.m. today with a full board decision on Thursday. 25 News Now
