- ➤ The YWCA Labyrinth Outreach Services was awarded over $500K from IDHS to support people re-entering society after their release from correctional facilities. The funding will allow the organization to expand its programs in Normal. The Pantagraph
- ➤ The Illinois Prairie Community Foundation is accepting nominations for its 2025 Philanthropists of the Year awards—open to individuals, couples, or families in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston, or Logan counties—and will honor the winners at a luncheon on November 13 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Bloomington. - ➤ State Farm will raise homeowners insurance rates by over $523 million in Illinois as rising home replacement costs and more frequent severe weather events drive higher claims—consumer advocate Abe Scarr and Gov Pritzker call for the General Assembly to grant the Department of Insurance oversight when lawmakers return in October. - ➤ The City of Bloomington and Town of Normal have proposed that McLean County suspend its 1% sales tax collection for mental health services so that the municipalities can keep the funds for at least one year. The County Board’s Executive Committee is set to discuss the measure at 4 p.m. Monday—approval by the full board and an audit of the $20 million Mental Health and Public Safety fund are also planned.
