  • After a fire caused over $4 million in damage three years ago, Victory Church in Bloomington reopened its rebuilt building over the weekend with a two-day celebration—Pastors Beth and Ed Herald led the dedication as local faith leaders and community members gathered.  WJBC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Raising Cane’s will open a new restaurant at 311 Veterans Parkway on July 15 and will hire 130 workers for roles like cashiers and fry cooks—applicants can apply in person until June 29.  25 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Heartland Community College provost Dr. Rick Pearce will retire at the end of June after 13 years of leading academic programs—more than 70 faculty and staff attended a Monday reception to honor his service as Dr. Sarah Diel-Hunt temporarily assumes his duties. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Community organizations rallied outside the county law center today to demand transparency about ICE activity after reports that the agency was seen at the courthouse — protestors raised signs and played live music to support immigrants. Organizers said they will keep monitoring ICE actions and help those who are scared.  Central Illinois Proud
  • A nuclear physicist from Illinois State University said U.S. military strikes on Iranian uranium enrichment sites over the weekend raised concerns about long-term military strategy and future diplomacy. He warned the conflict would limit U.S. ability to secure diplomatic success — stressing that diplomacy remains the safest method for reducing nuclear threats.  WGLT
  • Protesters gathered Monday afternoon at the Law and Justice Center to ask Sheriff Matt Lane for a meeting about ICE arrests and more transparency for immigrants in McLean County — groups like LUCIA and The Immigration Project led the march. They will share their concerns with local officials at the Justice Committee meeting on July 9 at 4 p.m.  25 News Now
