- ➤ Bloomington will host a free family-friendly Juneteenth celebration at Miller Park on Saturday, June 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the event features live music, a children's area, food trucks, free zoo and mini-golf admission, and honors local leaders with volunteers still needed for setup on June 20. - ➤ In 1873, Towanda native Mattie Stephenson left for Memphis to care for yellow fever patients and died while helping during the deadly outbreak—she was later honored as an angel of mercy with a monument at Elmwood Cemetery.
