- ➤ Gov. JB Pritzker nominated Doug Peterson to the ISU Board of Trustees on Friday, June 6, as he serves as AbbVie's director of AI strategy (pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate). He earned his MBA from ISU in 2007 and his appointment would complete the board for the first time since 2021. WGLT
- ➤ After agencies moved residents from a Center Street tent encampment, BNWRD began removing trees near Sugar Creek to repair aging sewers and a cleaning crew will soon clear remaining debris—officials say the work will finish by the end of summer. WGLT
- ➤ Today, Heartland Community College held a drill at its electric vehicle lab to practice response to simulated lithium-ion battery fires — first responders from Normal Fire Department arrived within minutes — and campus officials said the exercise improved coordination with local emergency units. 25 News Now

- ➤ OSF HealthCare is moving heart care from Urbana to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington so that mental health services in Urbana can be expanded. The shift will finish by the end-of-year with heart care moving by September and a new 40-bed unit planned (250 staff needed). WGLT
