- ➤ The Bloomington-Normal Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is collecting tampons and pads to fight period poverty — donations can be dropped off until June 13 at The Bird Nest at 503 South Main Street, with items then distributed on June 14 at Normal West High School from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ Raymond 'Pop' Elson, a long-time teacher at Chenoa High, recalled playing in the school’s first football game on Sept. 24th when Gridley beat them 169-0—he became a lifelong fan and his tale is preserved at the McLean County Museum of History. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Four Bloomington High School students helped create A Conversation Between… at University Galleries using pieces from the gallery’s permanent collection and works by recent ISU graduates. The exhibition will be open to visitors through July 28 at 11 Uptown Circle in Normal. WGLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Public educators in McLean County received $307 million to help close equity gaps in the state budget, but local superintendents say funds for transportation and school meals were not increased enough & local taxpayers may face extra costs. Districts like Heyworth and LeRoy remain challenged as proposals for more university funding did not pass during the spring session. WGLT

- ➤ The Citizens Utility Board asked Ameren Illinois to offer customer-friendly payment plans to help manage a 50% rate increase that will add 38 to 46 dollars to monthly bills this summer — a step taken as reserve power costs rise — and suggested that customers review energy efficiency programs. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bloomington hosted a Mental Health First Aid training session today to teach adults about mental health challenges such as warning signs of suicide, depression, and anxiety. Erin Kennedy from the Community Resource Center said a survey showing nearly 20% of respondents in poor mental health stresses the need for these collaborative classes. 25 News Now
