- ➤ The Town of Normal will close College Avenue from Anderson Park to Main Street from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, July 20 for Normal Stride and Ride — an open streets event that encourages walking, jogging and biking — as part of Parks and Recreation month and a collaboration with local groups, which will include park activities like games, yoga and an early pool opening at 10 a.m. City of Normal
- ➤ A tent encampment near AutoZone was set to disperse on Sunday for a BNWRD construction project, but several residents still remain while many have relocated to other sites or received rapid rehousing help (via local agencies). Some residents, including Louis Ray Starr and Laura Lane, resist the move, and police who checked the site Monday will return today (Tuesday) to verify compliance. WGLT

- ➤ Jamie Snow, the Bloomington man fighting for exoneration after his 2001 murder conviction, will share his side of the story on ABC's Nightline today at 11:35 a.m. and on ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis at 6 p.m.—interviews earlier at the Illinois River Correctional Center with Snow, his daughters and his attorney add important context. - ➤ WGLT’s summer music guide shows that Bloomington-Normal will offer many free and nearly free live concerts this summer at local spots like Downtown, Uptown & Connie Link Amphitheatre. - ➤ Heartland Community College honored eight individuals on May 30 with the President’s Medallion for helping expand the college and serve its students and community — the award at Elevate Heartland 2025 recognized former president Jon Astroth, community leaders Alan Bedell and Deanna Frautschi, early faculty member Ruifang Cao, and education leaders Dolan Dalpoas, Colleen Kannaday, Mike Matejka, and Drake Zimmerman. - ➤ U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen urged the public to call GOP lawmakers and oppose proposed cuts to food aid and Medicaid benefits during his visit to Heartland Head Start in Bloomington on June 2. He warned that reducing early education funding could hurt local families — a claim he made to protect vulnerable children — as Congress considers the controversial bill. WGLT
