- ➤ Nomad Theatre Company will present plays set in a barn from May 22-31 at Honey DEW Acres, a 5 acre farm northeast of Bloomington-Normal. The event features eight 10 minute plays staged in a barn built from reused telephone poles, with live music, treats, and mingle areas + extra activities. WGLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Illinois Wesleyan University launched a new interdisciplinary quantum science program at the Fisher Quantum Center (funded by a $3.5 million donation from alumni Ann and Alan Fisher). The program integrates physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and engineering and will expand into the Pertick Idea Center this September. WJBC
- ➤ Lifeguard training classes in Normal equip community members with essential summer water safety skills as they practice at local pools. Residents can register soon for sessions to learn lifesaving techniques. The Pantagraph
- ➤ A Unit 5 teacher at Kingsley Junior High School has been awarded a $10,000 grant to create Wellness in Motion + a wellness room for physical education that will serve around 800 students during the 2026-2027 school year. WJBC
- ➤ Four Heartland Community College graduates — who shared stories of war, service, family and leadership — recounted their experiences at Friday’s commencement at Grossinger Motors Arena, celebrating persistence and new beginnings. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Illinois State University (ISU) saw an 8% drop in student deposits as declining high school numbers impact enrollments statewide, while the school boosts transfers and retention. ISU is reviewing its recruitment strategies to stay competitive in a tightening admission landscape. WGLT
