- ➤ The Normal Theater and Keg Grove Brewing Company will host the second annual 'Out of your Element': A Big Lebowski Festival in Normal on Saturday, May 17, with street activities, film screening and special brews. The event will include costume contests, games, music and food—while a Little Lebowski Bowling Tournament runs today at Pheasant Lanes Family Fun Center—to benefit the Children’s Discovery Museum. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Illinois Wesleyan University has named John Miles as its permanent provost and dean of faculty; he will begin his role this July. Miles brings nearly 20 years of experience from small liberal arts colleges including Reinhardt University and replaces interim provost Dave Marvin, who is retiring after more than 30 years at the university. - ➤ The Normal Police Department will enforce the Click It or Ticket campaign through Memorial Day (May 26th) as part of its traffic enforcement efforts. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Bloomington City Council approved the sale of the property at 104 E. Oakland Ave to help Home Sweet Home Ministries build a shelter village called The Bridge— a project with small, furnished units and a clubhouse. They also asked Normal Town Council to consider a similar measure to support local efforts for the unhoused. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Starting today, road closures are in effect on Delaine Drive from Hale Street to College Avenue and on Hale Street from Adelaide Street to Delaine Drive for water main replacements. The project will end by the end of August (weather permitting) and local traffic will still have access while parking is not allowed. The Pantagraph
