- ➤ Three Bloomington-Normal YMCA employees saved a man from a heart attack and were honored for their lifesaving action (at the local community center). The Pantagraph
- ➤ Three Bloomington-Normal YMCA employees were honored yesterday with National Lifesaving Awards from the American Red Cross and a letter of recognition from the fire department for quickly saving a gym member who collapsed on a rowing machine on Dec. 26 last winter. They performed CPR and used an AED—helping restore his pulse—before he was taken for treatment and began cardiac rehab. WGLT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A jury began deliberations in a bribery case against Illinois Sen. Emil Jones III—he was indicted in September 2022 for bribery and lying while still winning re-election—while the state, Cook County and Chicago must file their views on federal migrant sanctuary rules by Tuesday. In another incident, police stopped a truck on Interstate 74 near LeRoy and found 234 pounds of cocaine in four containers, which is believed to be the largest seizure in McLean County. Cities 92.9

- ➤ A new GOP disclosure report left out a $28,000 transfer to former Normal mayoral candidate Kathleen Lorenz, which has spurred a State Board of Elections complaint alleging campaign finance violations. A hearing will be held on April 30 to review the case and determine if penalties are needed. WGLT

- ➤ Central Illinois health providers say ketamine injections help lessen severe depression and anxiety, but only a few clinics offer the treatment because costs and insurance rules limit access.
