  • Cities 92.9 and its partners Cornbelt Energy — The Good Guys at Barker Chevy, Compeer Financial, and Linco-Precision are launching a program that lets residents nominate a farmer to get free subs while working in the fields. The chosen farmer will have Freaky Fast Jimmy Johns subs delivered during their shift.  Cities 92.9
  • The public is invited to two forums at the Bloomington Public Library’s Community Room 1 to learn about Home Sweet Home Ministries’ proposal to purchase property near Main Street and Oakland Avenue for a non-congregate shelter—Friday, May 2 at 3:00 p.m. and Monday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. The sessions will let community members, Connect Transit Board, and City Council representatives hear project details and share feedback.  Cities 92.9
  • On Thursday, April 18, panelists in Normal discussed the long-lasting mental health effects of prison time and the challenges of returning to daily life at an event hosted by Heartland Community College and the Illinois Prison Project.   • Heartland Theatre’s living room comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is in its final run with shows today at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and egg hunts in the area offer sensory-friendly, family, and adult options with beer flights scheduled for Sunday. Miller Park Zoo hosts Party for the Planet today from 12 to 2 p.m.—free with admission as its recycled art contest for animal sculptures closed for submissions Friday at 4:30 p.m.  WGLT

  • Students at Heartland Community College took part in a Community Action Poverty Simulation to learn about the challenges of poverty — they managed tasks like paying bills and childcare with limited resources — Professor Martha Stearns led the exercise to show how such barriers can affect patient care.  Central Illinois Proud
