- ➤ Brightpoint will host its 16th annual 5K run and 1-mile walk (Taking Steps to End Child Abuse Color Run) on April 25 at Fairview Park to support its Family Visitation Center funding supervised court visits. Registration is open online to honor the memory of Duncan and Jack Leichtenberg. WGLT

- ➤ A teacher at Sugar Creek Elementary has spent nine years helping at-risk preschoolers learn through creative, hands-on projects and now will expand her Tubes and Tunnels project with a new Kodo Kit funded in part by 25News and CEFCU (a move to boost classroom exploration). 25 News Now
- ➤ Heartland Community College is hosting an open house on April 16 to showcase job training opportunities (funded by the Workforce Empowerment Initiative) at its Normal campus. The Pantagraph
- ➤ ISU President Aondover Tarhule signed a memorandum of understanding with the president of Chungnam National University to work together on future AI policy. The agreement will guide collaborative research on AI policy challenges (a new step in global partnership). The Pantagraph
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ About 300 support workers at Illinois State University walked the picket line early Wednesday as contract talks broke down Tuesday night — union leaders said they are open to returning to negotiations if the university reengages. WJBC
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Officials are discussing reviving the Trail East and West project with mostly residential housing near Constitution Trail, but plans would likely remove a controversial mural on a building. Mayor Chris Koos said the town paused creating a new TIF to revise legal descriptions—now in talks with a potential developer. WGLT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Normal West graduate Glenn Kinley, now WCIA's sports director, covered the Illini's Final Four run in Champaign after a 71 to 62 loss to UConn—he now works only an hour from home to stay close to his family. WGLT
