- ➤ The Islamic Center of McLean County ended Ramadan at its new masjid, Masjid Ibrahim, where local families gathered for prayers and meals during the holy month. Board President Sheheryar Muftee said the center—built without loans using $2 million in donations—plans to add a children’s school and a food pantry in the future. WGLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two incumbents and challenger Bergner won seats on the Heartland Community College Board of Trustees after a competitive election. The board members will serve the college in the upcoming term. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Illinois State University reached three tentative agreements between the union and administration that set new limits on teaching workloads and class credit issues. Some courses remain uncertain—faculty filed a ten-day notice of intent to strike while the university plans for possible teaching disruptions. WJBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ County officials reported that since a 1% sales tax fund began in 2016 with Bloomington and Normal, they spent about $15.8 million and kept roughly $19 million in reserve — of which about $4 million is reserved for mental health programs while the rest covers jail debt and a new database upgrade. Officials said they are working to improve transparency and measure service impacts better — a plan that will guide future spending decisions. WGLT
