At a hockey game in Normal last Friday, the Bloomington Bison won in overtime and raised over $2,000 for the Humane Society of Central Illinois with more than 100 dogs in attendance—local fans and pet owners cheered the fundraiser.

McLean County residents attended a forum at the Bloomington NAACP where candidates and superintendents discussed the upcoming April 1 election and a referendum on a one-percent sales tax for school facilities.

The proposed tax— which would add one cent on every dollar spent on qualifying items like prepared foods and entertainment— is expected to fund school upgrades and help offset property tax bills.
