EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Unit 5 families have until Mar. 1 to review two draft proposals for changes to school boundaries and facility use and share feedback in an enrollment survey. Cropper GIS will use responses (addressing plans for Carlock, Glenn, and others) to guide final recommendations to the school board. WGLT
- ➤ Illinois State University approved a 5% tuition increase for new undergraduates effective next school year to counter inflation and low state funding. The board set the base rate at $422.30 per credit hour (tuition will remain fixed until 2030) and added fees for housing and dining. 25 News Now
- ➤ The Illinois State Board of Education will host a public forum at Normal Community High School on Wednesday, Mar. 18 to review its second draft of the Comprehensive Numeracy Plan. The Pantagraph
- ➤ ISU President Aondover Tarhule explained how the school considers expenses (like salaries and upkeep) and market factors when setting tuition to keep education affordable and high quality locally. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Regional school superintendent Mark Jontry will retire 14 months early on May 1, clearing the way for his recommendation, assistant regional superintendent Molly Allen, to take over after two decades at the ROE. WGLT
