- ➤ PATH will offer free winter coats for local children and host a community carnival this month in partnership with Subaru and Operation Warm. Families are invited to join the event and enjoy community fun. The Pantagraph
- ➤ The Normal and Bloomington Human Relations Commissions announced winners of the MLK ‘I Have a Dream Awards,’ including three local high school leaders. The awards luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Brown Ballroom at ISU’s Bone Student Center from 1-3:30 p.m.—tickets are $30 until Jan. 10. WGLT
- ➤ Normal Firefighters IAFF Local 2442 will host a series of town hall meetings (Jan. 15 at Activity and Recreation Center, Jan. 29 at Bloomington Public Library, Feb. 12 at ISU, and Feb. 26 online) to review a new GIS-based Community Needs Study that shows fire and EMS coverage shortfalls. - ➤ A ribbon cutting ceremony in Bloomington for a new 48 cabin non-congregate shelter village was held last Tuesday. Home Sweet Home Ministries will open the shelter in coming weeks once city officials issue the occupancy permit after installing a fence + completing an electrical reinspection. WGLT
- ➤ Home Sweet Home Ministries celebrated the opening of The Bridge (a new non-congregate shelter village on Oakland Ave) with a ribbon cutting and guided tours for community members. The Pantagraph
