Illinois State University Welcomes New Finance VP

Illinois State University announces the appointment of Glen Nelson, previously of California State University Monterey Bay, as the new vice president for finance and planning. Starting January 6, Nelson will collaborate closely with ISU President Aondover Tarhule, leveraging his extensive experience in business and public higher education to drive the university toward its strategic goals. Nelson's background includes leadership roles at multiple universities and he holds a doctorate in education studies, an MBA, and certification as a Management Accountant. He is committed to fostering student-centered academic experiences and community engagement at ISU.

Rivian Navigates Unionization with UAW Neutrality Pact

Rivian has reached a confidential agreement with the UAW to remain neutral on union efforts at its Illinois plant, linked to securing a $6.6 billion loan for a new plant in Georgia.

Chicago Man Detained After Homecoming Party Shooting

During Illinois State University's Homecoming weekend, a shootout at a pop-up party in Normal led to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Randall E. Glass and the serious injury of another. Donye Arrington, 19, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder among other felonies, and was identified as the shooter through surveillance video and social media evidence. A McLean County judge has ruled to detain Arrington, with a significant amount of evidence including facial recognition from surveillance videos and cell tower records confirming his presence at the crime scene. The incident left one victim dead and another severely injured and learning how to walk again.
