Dabrona and her son Joshua opened South of Chicago Groceries in Bloomington to bring fresh food to a local food desert across from Miller Park, and the store now offers snacks, canned goods plus a small selection of fruit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day while they plan to raise money for a display cooler and eventually open a restaurant in the building.
Nomad Theatre Company will begin its second season with Order in the Court, a series of seven 10-minute courtroom dramas held at the McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington. The plays will run from September 19 to 27 and include a real-life play by local playwright John D. Poling based on ax-wielding women from Towanda—directed by retired professor Lori Adams.
